The GO4ZERO initiative is a highly ambitious project aimed at significantly reducing the
environmental footprint in clinker production through the adoption of innovative and sustainable practices. Transitioning clinker production at Obourg from a wet process using chalk to a dry process using limestone involves the extraction and processing of calcium carbonate-rich limestone. This pivotal project also encompasses substantial infrastructure developments including railway connections to facilitate limestone transport from Vaulx (Tournai) to Obourg, representing an investment of up to 350 million euros in total.
Role Description:
We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Supervisor to drive the mechanical aspects of the cement kiln package under the GO4ZERO project. The role involves strategic oversight during the study (10% to 20% of working time) and realization phases (80% to 90% of working time), ensuring the integration of mechanical components with environmental sustainability objectives at the forefront.
Key Responsibilities:
During the Study Phase (10% to 20% of working time):
- Validate supplier designs for the Obourg site.
- Oversee the preparation of technical drawings, purchase requests, and order forms while supervising the procurement and construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Coordinate and collaborate with engineers across various disciplines to ensure seamless information flow and adherence to project requirements.
During the Realization Phase (80% to 90% of working time):
- Manage on-site decisions at Obourg with a strict zero-accident target.
- Ensure qualitative contract fulfillment and participate in equipment performance tests.
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of key mechanical systems, including kiln line with preheater, calciner, clinker cooler, bag filters, RTO, SNCR, wet scrubber, WHR, VRM and raw material management, water treatment, compressed air production; alternative fuel facilities, ensuring they meet operational standards and environmental regulations.
Requirements:
- More than 10 years of mechanical supervisor experience, specifically in mechanical maintenance within the cement or metallurgy or mining or quarrying industries.
- Proven track record in overseeing mechanical aspects of large-scale industrial and processing projects.
- Demonstrated field experience in Mechanical works.
- Fluent in French. Good English skills expected. Chinese language optional. Excellent communication, coordination, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to identify problems, devise suitable solutions, and seek assistance when necessary. Effective communicator within and across team boundaries.
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical works and other related disciplines such as lubrication, piping, welding and steel structure.
- Able to read technical drawings, identifying locations and number of pieces.
- Proficient with mechanical transport systems like belt, screw, chain, apron conveyors, stackers/reclaimers, VRM, fan, kiln, pumps and associated peripheral devices.
- In-depth experience with rotary equipment and machine assemblies including shaft alignment; gearbox auditing; bearing measurement; motor replacement.
